Puddles

Spring seems to finally be starting here in jackson, and there are many puddles here at school. So today Tat and I decided to take a walk and enjoy them a bit. Since I am the proud owner of some rescue-hero-type boots, I figured I might as well make the most of their waterproofing :)
Our driveway has lots of potholes at this time of year, so it was basically the most perfect puddle stomping ground ever. Here are some pictures.

By the last picture you can tell that the waterline on my pants got higher as my enthusiasm did, but it was totally worth it :) Yay for waterproof boots!

Spring Break :)

About 3 weeks ago, i went down to Colorado with several of my friends for spring break. One of the girls lives there, so we all crammed into her house for an awesome 2 weeks together. (her parents are great and are the most hospitable people i've ever met) the first few days were rather uneventful as we all had to write 6-8 page papers on our personal philosophies. but after that we had a good time hanging out, playing games, and watching movies. the weather in CO was amazing, so one day we all went to a park and ran around and took lots of fun pictures. like these:

"dont drink the water, danilo!"
me trying to convince janaye not to jump off the bridge.
clearly, i should never be a cop who talks people out of jumping.
while trying to disuade Janaye, three more "jumped".

Olivia getting revenge for me not convincing Janaye and the others not to jump.

we also went shooting (both bows and arrows and guns) and to the budweiser factory to see the clydesdales. i guess it was kind of a manly day for us.

isnt that thing huge?!
we also went to the Rocky Mountain National Park one day. We saw lots of elk and had tons of fun climbing over boulders. on the way there we even stopped at the dam store (because it's next to a dam) and got some t-shirts.

we were looking at a huge herd of elk. not just posing.

Later during spring break several of us got the chance to go to the gym that Tat's mom works at. Olivia taught me how to use the punching bag, and i even skinned 2 of my knuckles! She was so proud.

The black on my other hand is a design Tatiana had drawn on me earlier that day.
Tat's friend Hannah came over during the break and put feathers in our hair. Here's me and Lish with our feathers.
Other than that, we mostly just hung out, watched movies, played games, read books, and went on walks in the beautiful sunshine. one night i got to go to a Zumba class with Tat's mom and it was one of the funest things i've ever done.

oh! and i also dyed Lish's hair red and put highlights in Christina's hair. here is my finest (and only) hair coloring work:

how many people does it take to highlight hair?
1 to highlight, 1 to hold the foil, 1 to look over your shoulder, and 1 to point and stare.
i love those girls.

the finished product!
i colored Lish's hair and Lish helped me highlight Christina's.
i couldn't have done it without her, so she gets equal credit here.

every now and then some of Tat's friends would come over and hang out with all of us. She has some awesome friends. But then again, i am rather biased seeing as i'm one of them. :) we also went bowling on the last thursday of our break. it'd been a while since i'd bowled last, but i did ok and it was really fun.

but now i'm back at school, and although i always love being here, i do miss colorado. hopefully i'll be able to go back there someday :)

Igloo Adventure

Although I usually try to keep my blog posts in chronological order, I've decided to write about the adventure I had with Sam today instead of writing about my spring break. Not because one was better than the other, but rather just because I feel like it.

So a while back, several of the boys here at school decided to make an igloo with the huge amounts of snow we get here in Jackson. Because neither Sam or I have ever been inside an igloo, we decided a while ago to one day go inside this igloo and take pictures to prove to all future generations that we have in fact been inside one.
Our plan was very do-able, seeing as the igloo was pretty structurally sound  and there was a path to get there and everything. The only problem was that we never found the time to actually do it. That is, until now.
You see, it has been so long since they originally made it and it's been getting much warmer lately, so we figured if we didnt do it soon we might never get the chance. So today, after finishing our outlining the book of Hebrews (awesome book by the way, you should definitely read it if you havent recently), we put on our boots and hiked out there.
Before spring break.
After spring break. Notice the lopsided decrepitness.
However, we've had so many snows since there was a path that there was no longer any easy way to get to it. So we just high-stepped through knee-high snow.

Once we were there, we decided it'd probably be best if I peeked inside to make sure there were no wild animals inside. There weren't any animals, but it did look like there were some mats and some blood on the ground.
After a brief second thought, I crawled in a bit, pulled a mat halfway out and crawled in. Once inside, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the "blood/poweraid"-looking stuff was really just candlewax. So I had Sam crawl in afterwards and we took some quick pictures before we decided to hurry out on account of it not looking all that sturdy.
Back on the outside, we both smiled and were glad that God gave us the chance to go on this adventure and that He had kept us safe from the melting igloo.
Now we are both on the lookout for new adventures around campus. It might take a bit before we find another, but we're not worried. After all, "Adventure is out there!"
Here are a few pictures:
Me about to crawl in.
Me inside an igloo!
Notice the light source on the left. Nope, it's not the entrance, it's a small hole the sun left in the side of the igloo.
It really wasn't that cold. It just seemed appropriate.
Sam as she army crawls her way inside.
